I got a number from street approach. Date question

I went to swim with a friend, and a chubby unattractive redhaired girl smiled at me. I approached her, and got her number.
She has whatsapp, but prefered to write via sms?!?! Now she wants to meet me, and proposed to meet at a restaurant.... and asked if i like asian or greek more.
Wtf is this shit? Is it normal to go for a restaurant first date? I would never ltr this girl, but for a fuck i am desperate enough. Would you guys go and pay for a dinner, just to have the 50/50 chance of fucking after?
