No idk about other countries but in Russia if you did well on your finals you can go to uni for free if you meet their criteria and they also pay you a stipend for academic achievements (mostly good grades) and as long as you get at least a C in all classes you don't get expelled (we use a 1-5 rating system and you need to score at least 3 in all classes which is around the equivalent of a C)
