I had a parking officer job interview today

It was giga easy so I’ll probably get the job, but I don’t really want it

It’s 42.5 hours a week, and schedule changes from 7:45-16:15 and 13:45-22:15, including 1.5 hour paid breaks tho

But, at £28,000 a year, it’s £12.67 an hour, which isn’t great, and you could get harassed or assaulted by idiots who don’t want a parking ticket. I literally made £13.36 an hour at my last post room security job, doing a chill and enjoyable job

Also, I plan on going to teach English in China sometime between July and August, so I would only be working the job for like 2-3 months

I live with parents, but median salary for someone my age outside London is probably around 28k
Maybe just over 2k after tax
1 bed apartment rent probably at least £800, £1000+ in nicer cities

You can’t be at the job centre without paying NI in the last two tax years

As someone who has never had a job, that doesn’t apply to you. I tried applying for JSA but got rejected cos they use the tax years ending April 2024 and 2025, not 2025 and 2026 for some reason
