Over I had an opportunity to practice my german with germancels today

I spotted a few germancels in my uni. They were exchange students that had come here for research. They were all berliners. And all of them had that hyper leftist archetype look. Colored hair, overweight, borreby pheno but insane coloring. I went up to them and started talking to them in german. They were surprised and talked back to me in german but I couldn't understand them properly. They had some weird accent or were speaking some strange german dialect that I couldn't get like I could understand what they were trying to say but the pronunciation of the words and the slang was completely foreign to me. They told me my german is very decent but I speak quite formally and I am very polite and that native germans generally dont speak the textbook german that I speak but told me I wouldn't have any problem in germany with this level of german

I was talking about eye color. They all had very light eyes and yes they were red like tomatoes
