I had this misconception about Islam

It was that Islam supports genocide and killing the infidels, but after reading a bit I found out that killing peaceful infidels is not only a sin, it’s a crime that you get prosecuted for. Yes peaceful infidels have to pay you annually to able to live on their land, but for that they get the Islam government’s protection and they become allies.

Im not familiar much about the Rashidun Caliphate, but the Ummayads were even worse then what i said, not only were christians second class citizens, but non arab muslims were treated worse too, Ummayad Caliphate was arab supremacist and arab muslims would build forts around the wealthy regions were they would live far from the other muslims and Christians. The Abbasid movement was started mostly cause of the oppression of the arabs in the Ummayad Caliphate, the bulk of the Abbasids were Iranians
