I dont care about skin colour specifically but I hate when I judge someone from looks even on a subconscious level
I notice it often yet cant change how I react to whatever situation it is or by the time I do realise the event has passed

I’m black and I’m “racist” like that constantly. I just don’t let it make me treat people differently. If you really have it so much, see it more like “oh a black guy, let’s see if he falls in the stereotype” and if he doesn’t you will get dopamine from the contrast.

Racism is extremely nuanced.
I don't think it's racist to argue that people of particular races are dumber, smarter, etc. The literal definition of racism used to be the unjust belief that a particular race was innately superior/inferior, now it's been skewed to just the belief itself.
Often as a white man, east Asian man, etc., if you 'punch down' on another race by citing whatever data, you're seen as racist because you are said to be the "oppressor" but the person saying that is making a Freudian slip by implying they believe you to be superior themselves.

Let's entertain the idea that black people are physically more capable demonstrated by their overrepresentation in some sports, most people would deem that as not racist.
But if I say that black people are intellectually less capable, more aggressive, etc., demonstrated by their overrepresentation in convictions for violent crime, underrepresentation in tertiary education involvement, etc., people will try to argue the nuance because it's only seen as racist if it's (incorrectly) inferred you are implying your own race to be superior.

What I'm saying is that people will always have their own innate bias towards people of a particular race, often but not always for good reason. Stereotypes are never just made up, it's not phenomena, nor is it a group of people colluding to create false rumours/prejudices about a certain race (most of the time :feelswat:). So, don't worry about what you think, keep cautious around anyone if they fit a stereotype, sometimes a stereotype irrespective of race, until you can guarantee they don't meet the negative stereotype that you're afraid of.
