Not anymore, but in the 80s Hezbollah and Iran authorized and carried out "martyrdom operations" where soldiers blew themselves up, the Grand Ayatollah also made a fatwa that ruled it was permissible for one to launch a suicide attack on civilians in wartime, but it was otherwise haram, a lot of this info was on an Iranian site that got shut down unfortunately. Although theyre fringe and dont represent the whole body of the Shias, I know most Twelver Shias dont care for war.

Also, are you a religious person yourself?

Much nicer than Sunnis in my experience, I speak to locals as well as some online, where I learnt about the 12 Imams and how Shias were persecuted heavily, I also asked some questions of my own, it's interesting to see scholars of different religions have completely different answers to seemingly simple questions like "what is God", surprisingly Shias have a different answer than Sunnis to this question lol. And yes I am religious but not in a conventional sense, i'll get there some day.
