honestly hate coming home at this point. My mother and sister live with me, and ever since my parents separated a few years ago, everything has felt emotionally draining. And before anyone assumes I’m some kind of heartless or “difficult” person: I genuinely help my mother a lot. I do things for her, support her in everyday life, and try to carry responsibility whenever I can. But despite all of that, home doesn’t feel like a family environment to me anymore. It feels more like a place I’m forced to return to.

Both my mother and my sister struggle with depression, and I understand that mental illness isn’t easy. But after a while, constantly carrying other people’s emotional weight becomes exhausting. Everything revolves around their problems, their emotions, their struggles. They expect so much from me while barely caring about how I feel myself. I feel emotionally drained and unappreciated, like my only role is to keep things functioning while nobody notices what this environment is doing to me mentally.

Their behavior genuinely disgusts me at this point. The constant self-pity, negativity, and the way everything always becomes about them has completely destroyed the connection I once had with them. The only thing I’m truly grateful to my mother for is giving birth to me. Beyond that, I barely feel any emotional connection anymore. The relationship I have with both my mother and my sister feels more like living with strangers than living with family.

And honestly, the worst part is that I don’t even feel guilty for thinking this way anymore. I’m just tired of living in an atmosphere that makes me feel emotionally trapped every single day.
