I discriminate based on values. If a certain group of people represent a threat to society in any way, I discriminate against them because their mere presence puts the lives of others in danger. An individual of that certain group might be different, but as a self-defense mechanism the brain discriminates against that individual based on what group they belong to so we don't have to risk our well-being trying to figure out how that individual behaves. For this reason, discrimination is natural and sometimes beneficial to society.
