Just the other day I walked into a Rolex AD just to check out the new Land Dweller. I was dressed modestly had on a polo, chinos, and a cap. Nothing flashy. The store looked like the headquarters of the Federal Reserve or something. 3 bodyguards. Bulletproof glass, huge steel reinforced doors. Way over the top.

I went up to this "sales associate" and ask if I can see the Land Dweller. The man looks at me like I just asked him for his kidney or to hand over his firstborn or something. He goes, β€œSorry, we don’t have that model” I point right at it in the display case and say β€œWhat’s that then?” And this clown tells me it doesn’t have a movement in it and isn’t for sale. Okay, fine. Can I at least try it on?” Just to get a feel for it on the wrist.

And this dude hits me with the Rolex policy sermon you need to β€œbuild a purchase history,” β€œnew releases don’t go to just anyone,” blah blah blah. I was like I’m not asking you to sell me a moon rock. I just wanted to try it on. Not steal it. Not lick it. Just see how it looks.

He still says no and basically tells me to come back when I’m someone. He was dismissive and rude as hell. The arrogance was next level. These guys really act like they’re gatekeeping some holy artifact. It’s a damn watch not the Ark of the Covenant. I’ve never felt so judged for breathing near glass in my life. Who do these mofokers think they are. Fuck you.

Dude was acting like a pure fag lol. He was clearly repulsed by your existence in the store. Deserves a clean bullet to the back of the skull.

I've seen this happen even to rich people, no matter who you are they want you to buy 10 "cheap" Rolex watches first before you buy a Daytona and probably 5 daytonas to buy a Land Dweller. Luxury brands treat you like this, Hermes and LV do the same. I never buy in those places because it's overpriced bs made for people who their life consists of bragging to others. Even "mid" brands like Hugo Boss can treat you the same if you don't know what exactly to buy.

Seems that guy thought of himself as if he worked for a luxury car dealership

If you were actually smart then you would just buy a dupe and save that money for something else. The perceived worth is all that matters. You can easily get fake clothing items and jewelry, but not a Lamborghini or a yacht, which is why people actually pay attention and admire someone when they show up with one of those.

Would he let you try on the Rolex if you looked like this?
