Back in the day a man could finish medchool or lawschool and be a respected doctor. Or become a skilled musician. Or work hard at this craft and achieve status that way.
Point is that status was something you could obtain - in your village, you absolutely could become the best at something. You could become wealthy enough for people to take notice of that.
Nowadays? No-one gives a fuck if you finished a hard school. No-one gives a fuck if you're "good" at something. It's not possible to elevate yourself into the upper echelons of any given field you choose, because the bar which you have to cross is infinitely higher (to the point of competing with men all over the globe). No longer being skilled will give you status and respect, you have to be in the top 1%, internationally popular, best of the best for people to even take notice.
A good job won't give you shit except more disposable cash to blow on copes, the bar to become rich enough for people to consider you rich is in the millions - aka unattainable for pretty much everyone.
Where does that leave us? With the fact that your looks (and other inherent characteristics like charisma) define pretty much everything. Lucky roll, defines your entire worth. You cannot change it, becoming a doctor won't mean shit to women (and men alike). Being distinguished in a field will have meaning to only a very few people, whom of which none are women - most likely other incels who hoped to attain some status.
Today, nothing you can do is exceptional
