Oh yes, it's very legit. As for causing anxiety I guess it could do that if you become addicted and stop abruptly. I think it's less damaging than alcohol, but yeah it works on the opioid receptors so practice caution with it.

Yes, although I don't experience a lot if it myself that's like one of the main benefits.
