For the interview for my current job (was in person) I didn't eat for 48hours to lean out my face.

Tbh halo-effect is unmoggable. I felt like the interviewers were looking for a reason to hire me, as opposed to looking for a reason to not hire me.If you know what I mean.

Like they would be asking questions in a way, repeating them in a way, just kinda 'waiting' for me to say the right thing so they could be like: 'oh yeah he has the right qualities, lets hire him'.

I've had job interviews where I didn't looksmax beforehand and u would see they were entirely unimpressed and looking for me to say 1 bad thing to have a 'reason' to not hire me.

I've only not been offered the job 4 times, and that was because of experience

Workout your core to make your midsection wider.

In the meantime, just buy / tailor your shirts so they leave just a little extra material around the midsection (not enough to actually pile and wrinkle though obviously).

As for vests, try and buy one that roughly matches your skin tone, makes them invisible through shirts which looks a lot better as a result, or else you look like this:
