-5'10"
-avg clavicles
-6'4" wingspan
-6.8" wrists
-11" ankles
-short torso

The only thing I can do with my frame is boxing cause of my wingspan but I don't want to risk the brain damage. I'm the only one in my immediate family who has this disproportionate of an ankle-wrist circumference ratio. It's not really that noticeable in clothes, but still idk if this is good or bad. I drew ts in ms paint to show how it looks like:

You can do rowing with those proportions

Yes — your proportions are quite favorable for rowing, and here's why:

Wingspan (6'4") at 5'10" height

  • A wingspan significantly longer than height gives you a stroke length advantage, which means you can cover more water per stroke — a major asset in rowing.

Short Torso

  • A shorter torso and longer limbs (especially legs) help generate more power during the drive phase of the stroke.
  • It also typically allows a better hinge at the hips and more efficient force transfer.

Average Clavicles

  • While broad clavicles can help with stability and leverage, having average clavicles isn’t a disadvantage — especially since your long arms compensate well.

Small Wrists (6.8") and Large Ankles (11")

  • Small wrists are common in endurance athletes and don't negatively affect rowing.
  • Large ankles can indicate strong lower legs, beneficial for the initial leg drive.

Summary:

You have ideal leverage (long arms, short torso) and efficient biomechanics for rowing. With proper training, you could excel, especially in single sculls or crew boats that benefit from long-limbed rowers.

Would you like a rowing-specific training plan or strength program?
