I have TMJ on the right side of my jaw from chewing & mewing. What should the next step be?

I had that a few years ago, the muscles in my jaw got enlarged and chewing anything for more than 5 minutes got extremely painful. I think I got mine from a habit I used to have of clenching my jaw. Mine went away by itself after about a month after I stopped clenching my jaw. Probably best to talk to a doctor though.

Personally I had a bout of TMJ (not from chewing though, was actually caused by guitar-playing of all things + grinding at night). Wore a mouth guard + ibuprofen at night for a couple months and it went away permanently.

Main issue is that the space around the jaw joints are so tiny + nerves on the face are so sensitive that even slight inflammation is going to cause some major pain.
