I used to go on holiday every year

But the last time I left the UK or even went for a week or more trip within UK was July 2019

I don't see a reason to tbh

Travel is overrated. And before I was a kid going was parents

Sure, I would go for free. But I don't want to spend a bunch of money for something romanticised to be better than it is

I want to move permanently to some quaint coastal tropical community. But I don't care about spending shekels for a short term trip

I have ascended so hard to the point where most of my pleasure comes from within tbh

all pleasure comes from within. You make your own happiness inside you from the way you think, feel and interact with the world around you.

Doesn't mean that you cant change your surroundings to experience new things.

Pleasure doesn't necessarily come from within. Happiness does though

Getting a handjob by a Thai masseuse would be pleasurable, but wouldn't give any true happiness

I can experience new things, but my point is I'm basically following a monk philosophy

youre wrong. It's your reaction to a thai massage which can allow you to feel true happiness or not.

If you see it as insignificant, then it becomes just 'pleasure' and not happiness. But if you are in a good spot mentally you can find the experience enthralling.

then you are making things unnecessairily hard for yourself imo

Yes. Contentment must come from yourself.

Disagree
But also, the vast majority of people completely over rely on others, and the validation of others, for their happiness

you can not rely on anyone but still enjoy interactions with others.

And my point was how the majority go on holiday in hopes of getting away from their regular lives. They long for change, and think the solution is a short term change in surroundings/external stimuli, when in reality the change must come from their mindset and from within
