true, rdr1 was lot less filtered, way better writing compared to rdr2. games in general used to have a lot of free writing back then but i think it was around 2015-2016 where you slowly started seeing companies play safer, then 2020 covid era amplified it hard and everything became overly sanitized, corporate, and scared of taking risks. older games felt like the writers were just allowed to make characters flawed, cynical, offensive, weird, unpredictable, whatever fit the world naturally. now a lot of dialogue feels focus tested and written like hr DEI approved replies. such subhumanity.
