"And who is and should be a pessimist? He who is mature for death and is in no condition to love life, just as the optimist cannot turn away from it. If he does not realize that he will live on in his children, his procreation loses its horrible character; but if he does realize it, he will recoil in horror from it, just like Humboldt when he noticed that the torments that another being must endure for perhaps eighty years are too high a price to pay for a few minutes of pleasure, and will consider the procreation of children, and rightly so, as a crime."

"How easy it is to throw stones on the suicide's grave, and how difficult it was, on the other hand, the struggle of that poor man who had prepared his deathbed so well. First, he cast a fearful glance from afar towards death and turned away in fright; then he avoided it, trembling and going around it in wide circles which, however, became smaller and smaller every day until, at last, he clasped death's neck with his weary arms and looked directly into its eyes: and then there was peace, sweet peace."

i somewhat disagree with this philosophy but i completely understand anyone who chooses to follow it

i also appreciate how beautifully these philosophers phrase their words

Do not ridicule a man's beliefs, rather question what led him to have a faith in what he states.

For those who are nihilistic and pessimistic, understand the frustration one can feel being delt an unfair hand in life.

"I was born with x,y,z genetics, am I unworthy of true love?"

And vice versa for those who believe in optimism.

Though I was faced with these adversities, I must improve in what I can, for I have one chance to do so.

By opening our hearts and truly showing ourselves to each other, can a world of understanding be reached.

Understand your brother and sister, rather than ridiculing.

Emil Cioran was very based. "On the height of despair" is my second favourite book after "philosophy of redemption"

"The most interesting aspect of suffering is the sufferer's belief in its absoluteness. He believes he has a monopoly on suffering. I think that I alone suffer, that I alone have the right to suffer, although I also realize that there are modalities of suffering more terrible than mine, pieces of flesh falling from the bones, the body crumbling under one's very eyes, monstrous, criminal , shameful sufferings. One asks oneself, How can this be, and if it be, how can one still speak of finality and other such old wives' tales? Suffering moves me so much that I lose all my courage. I lose heart because I do not understand why there is suffering in the world."
