- validation is a very nuanced topic that requires a quite a large amount of dissertion
- people can give you disingenuous attention when they would rather "pay you upfront" rather then deal with the consequences later. i.g. hype up an ugly guy to talk to a woman, tell you you look good. these examples show the exaggerated form that are easily identifiable - however can be more subtle
- similarity the source of attention matters - if the person providing is someone you wouldn't typically want to associate with. both their means can be disingenuous in terms of what you personality are trying to achieve - and by association. Think if the person is like low socioeconomic or ugly themselves - I wouldn't value their input
- attention, when good - is good. However the things that I've just outlined that constitute as negative attention completely removes how productive it is receiving it. if you fail to obtain it - you're ultimately doing yourself a favour
