Because they're all underage they don't have alcohol there. You'd have to bring your own and if you have a location to go to for a party with alcohol, you'd probably just go there instead of the prom. Like I said at the prom they were hosting at my school back then all the teachers would be lurking the dance floor staring at people and no one wants to have to go to the bathroom just to take a swig of liquor.

It’s mainly important in the suburbs more than urban areas. But my prom was not very exciting

Basically the whole grade had planned to stay for a little bit then go to an after party at a separate location. Some kids booked a limo to the after party which was a shit ton of money and sounded retarded to me, but they were rich and it was on their parents dime

Either way I was high out of mind during the actual prom so the quality of it didn’t matter
