I was a former viral youtuber, will not give out my channel as I have been doxxed and stalked but some of you have seen my stuff. I remember that I didnt understand either until I started receiving hate myself.

Content creators / influencers rely on public approval for growth. Combine that with how hypercompetitive the space is and you end up with neurotic approval-seeking as a requirement for success. It works very well to motivate you to pump out content early on, but it turns on you when you "make it" because the downside is the public's hate is amplified in your head. For me, 1 hater would drown out the voice of 100 fans because most of the time they're hitting an insecurity you know exists and have thought of before, and it stings in your mind like a knife wound. Eventually it corrupts everything and you begin questioning your friends and your purpose, combine that with harassment and you're looking at trouble. I was not even that big when I got doxxed, my linkedin shared around, people posting my address and name, people making fun of my dead mom who died to cancer, etc. It was too much for me and I quit. I now work a normal job and life is not as exciting but much more peaceful and I actually make more $ but it's only cause I got into AI early, and I do miss content creation every day

Tldr: celebrities / influencers amplify hate in their head because they live and die by public approval
