went to the derm recently told her my tretinoin wasnt working. i brought up accutane and she said it was possible but for my age she recommended aklief as a last resort b4 accutane.
I chose Aklief (trifarotene) instead, am i low iq
accutane drug label warns about premature epiphyseal closure, which can stop height growth permanently.
This risk is well documented in high-dose or long-term use (like for neuroblastoma), but case reports exist even at standard acne doses in adolescents.
If you're young with growth left, why risk it?
Aklief is a relatively new topical retinoid (fourth-generation). It targets acne and scarring directly on the face and body without significant systemic absorption. No reports or warnings about effects on bone growth, growth plates, or height. It seems to be working pretty good so far at least for me
