my stepdad was a drunk. Mean fucking drunk. He’d come home and beat on us, and our mother would get the worst of it.

One day my brother had enough of it and stood up to that monster. They got into it bad - really bad. I couldn’t do anything but watch. Then he freaked the fuck out, stood up, grabbed his 9mm from his drawer and emptied the mag into my brother.

The rest of that night was a blur, but at some point police came, ambulance came, all that horseshit.

9 years later and I’m still picking up the pieces. I’m pretty sure my stepdad died in prison.

What a life.
