That's because your brain doesn't like completely remodel itself. It just adds stuff on top of what's already there. Also 19 is a kid. Even early 20s is a kid. I remember I was in mid to late 20s and my ex-gf and I went rock climbing with a bunch of early 20s people. We had to walk a few miles back to the car with them and they were chattering the whole time. Afterwards we were both like "Holy shit, did that make you feel old as hell?" because their chatter was just so juvenile sounding.
