Dreadlocks are a subcultural signal to alternative black culture.

As a black guy, it’s the same reason I like white girls with lashes and a small neck tattoo because they are signaling for guys like me. Me having dreadlocks signal for girls like her.

Same way a white guy with long unkempt dyed black hair signals for alternative white girls.
