There are many various reasons I'm sure, varying from one individual to another. Some of these reasons are shared, some are not, but there is one basic reason shared by all humans as far as screen addiction goes. We can do things via screens we never could within the physical reality that includes all 5 senses. Screens are like a sort of artistic/creative and useful filters, taking the concept of so-called reality and "freeing it", in a sense. By the way, screen filters are also a common addiction. Makes sense to me.
It is an escape from reality, and the troubles, woes, and challenges that come with it. And escapism is a powerful vice; I should know. Drugs have that similar effect. Personally I’ve always detested drugs for the way they’ve ruined the lives of people I know and care about, but at the same time I get why so many people are on them. It’s hard to get through life without some type of escape, especially if you’re a male of low status. I can also understand why people sell drugs, because it’s a way to make big/easy money and “honest” livings don’t even pay half of that.
