maybe from an evolutionary perspective, i remember growing up, i was afraid of black kids, it was just this automatic fear, i couldn’t explain why. this was way before i even knew the thug stereotype surrounding black people. i don’t think it’s even the skin color, i’ve met dark skinned people way darker than your average black person. think of something like this guy
i really do think it’s ingrained, hardwired in our biology, and it’s not just ‘social conditioning’ or environmental shaping the way people think of black people. i remember this one black kid at a halloween party, one of my niece’s pre k thing, these were kids who could barely spell their own name. nobody wanted to partner up with him, nobody sat next to him. it wasn’t even because of his behavior or anything like that, he was just existing, oblivion to what’s going on. who knows, maybe i’m just overthinking it. why though? any evolutionary reason?
