I think a good analogy would be that Manhattan is West London, while the other worse boroughs are the other worse areas of London. And the surrounding rich neighborhoods in Connecticut and Long Island are like the posh wealthy enclaves surrounding London.

thats more like oxford and cambridge. Tbf I dont think the areas of south of croydon or east of east london are that much better they are still culturally quite thuggish.

I meant Surrey, Cotswolds, etc. As well as Oxford and Cambridge.

South London and East London, as well as the nearby areas are comparable to Queens and the Bronx. Essex is like Staten Island.

North London is like Brooklyn. The eastern half is terrible with some of the worst hoods in the world, while the western half that's connected to the best area (West London / Manhattan) is really nice and gentrified, and populated by wealthy educated white liberals and Jews.
