It's shit and I didn't want to do it in the first place
But today one of the managers speaks to me and says the "CCTV" has seen that I'm "significantly slower at scanning parcels in and out than the others". Ok. Number 1: very untrue. I am an advocate for coasting, but I've been doing more than the others since I've started this job.
Number 2: a massive fucking lie. It's not the CCTV. So someone in the CCTV room is dedicated enough to watch the post room for a long enough time to get a sense of how quick we are processing parcels? Instead of actually watching the site or on their phone? Bollocks. Besides, even if I were scanning less stuff in (lie), I'm the one who spends more time than anyone putting parcels away and rooting around the shelves trying to find them for people, or lifting heavy boxes.
No, it's not CCTV. What I can only assume has happened is the zero hours prick who has been there longer than the 3 of us who are new, has for some reason complained and bullshited to the manager, and the manager has then lied and said it was CCTV that caught it, rather than exposing the prick. The reason I, and one of the other workers, think this is because it's the first time this prick has been in in like a week, and the first day he's back, I get called out, when the other two workers are calm. The irony is that this little prick is the one who does the least work, and doesn't even scan parcels in. He just mopes around getting parcels off the shelves and complaining about the rest of us
I should've called out the manager on this bs when he said it, but I only realised after that it's not CCTV
Anyway, a shit job is one thing. But then when u treat your workers like shit and lack the respect to tell the truth, that's when it crosses the line. And if, by some tiny likelihood, it really was CCTV that called me out, then they can fuck off and stop expecting me to work harder than the Bangladeshi sweat shop worker I'm already acting as. Of course, that doesn't explain why I was singled out, when I do more than the others.
If I had another job lined up, I'd quit tomorrow. Gotta start looking for stuff. Anyway, if I see that same manager tomorrow I'm gonna question him
