Ja acne and scarring suck but theyre fixable. Use a gentle cleanser, tret or adapalene (for acne + scarring), barrier-supporting cream, and daily SPF NO EXCEPTIONS. Cut sugar/dairy if u notice it causes breakouts, fix sleep, manage stress and stay hydrated. If its hormonal or cystic, see a derm. And dont ignore your skin tone once texture clears, itll elevate everything.

my retard derm prescribed me dapsone, now i just got the prescription for isotret as well which im gonna combo since dapsone has been proven to work well when paired with isotret/accutane then i either plan to do chemical peels or dermarolling (probably both), btw if you have acne try cutting out milk, cheese... bc that shit caused bad breakouts for me

No, isotretinoin is not banned in the UK, but stricter regulations and safety measures have been implemented by the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) due to mental health and sexual side effects. These measures include stricter oversight for patients under 18, a requirement for two prescribers to approve treatment, and the requirement that isotretinoin only be prescribed for severe acne resistant to other treatments by specialist dermatologists. Additionally, isotretinoin gel (Isotrex) is no longer available.

Key changes and safety measures:
  • Restricted use:
Isotretinoin is reserved for severe cases of acne, like nodular or conglobate acne, or when there's a risk of permanent scarring, and only when other treatments haven't worked.

  • Prescribing restrictions:
Only specialist dermatologists can prescribe isotretinoin, and for patients under 18, two prescribers must agree that it's the only appropriate treatment.

  • Increased monitoring:
Close monitoring of a patient's mental health and sexual well-being is now required during treatment.

  • Updated product information:
New warnings and precautions about potential mental health and sexual side effects have been added to the product information.

  • Discontinued gel:
The topical formulation, isotretinoin gel (Isotrex), is no longer available.
Why the changes:
  • CHM Review: In April 2023, the Commission on Human Medicines (CHM) published a review of suspected psychiatric and sexual side effects, recommending these new measures to improve patient safety.

  • Implementation: The MHRA introduced these regulatory changes in October 2023.
