I was considering purchasing this mansion in Scranton a couple of years ago

It was listed for only $680k, which was within my budget.

The property looks A-MAZING from the outside. I love the Italian Renaissance Revival architecture, the surrounding land, and the imposing gate enclosure. I also like that it sits on a small hill, overlooking all the peasants in the shacks surrounding the property below*.

Unfortunately, the interior doesn't impress me nearly as much. In fact, I think I'd get depressed and claustrophobic living here. There are just too many little cubbyholes and cramped spaces, which give the house a confusing, restrictive feel. The exterior has that grand, aristocratic presence, but the interior feels almost the opposite--fragmented, enclosed, and lacking the sense of openness I'd want in a home like this.



*This mansion in Scranton reminds me of the one featured in the 1972 Italian "Giallo" film, The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave. Ever since I saw that atmospheric movie when I was a kid, I always wanted to live in a mansion like that. If only the interior of the Scranton mansion looked similar to this one, I would've moved Heaven and earth to buy that property.

looks like a castle, i don’t see why not if you have the money, probably going to need a chunk of that money for refurbishing

Yeah, it would be too expensive to remodel the interior to make it resemble the one featured in that early-70s movie.
