Women view men who contact them online as a potential risk because they don't know if they can trust him, that's why they are so picky on tinder, because the guy could be a dangerous serial killer or he could rape her, so whenever women use tinder or when they meet men online through other means, they always make sure to minimize the risk as much as possible and maximize the reward. That is why women have much higher standards on tinder than in real life because in real life, the interaction is more real and it's easier to detect if the person is trustworthy or not so the risk is much lower so women tend to lower their expectations there.

This is why most men shouldn't try to rely on dating apps to get laid. The only benefit that dating apps have is that they save you a lot of time so it can be a good alternative for guys who are already successful with women in real life and are comfortable enough to do it online instead. For newbies who can't get matches though, meeting women in real life is far better.
