My expectations weren't too high until I've learned Kane Parsons was directing the whole project. Overall the movie offered a damn immersive experience to the uncanny, cryptic and psychologically oppressive world of the backrooms. I loved how you couldn't be sure if the soundtrack was diegetic or non-diegetic, which made the whole experience so much more surreal. The cam footage while cliché was executed well and had some of the movie's most frightening moments in them. However, the third act was noticeably weaker than the 2 others although I loved the explanation of how this worked by remembering and copying parts of our reality.
Overall it's a show-don't-tell type of experience, and not everything is meant to be explained.
