It's called Inhabited Island and it's two movies actually.

The first one had extremely piss poor subtitles so I think I understood like 70-80% of it (I had to estimate quite a lot). Needless to say, spoilers ahead.

Apparently it's based on a sci-fi russian novel. Where the Earth reached 22nd century and humanity mastered the secrets of the body. So they're probably all moggers back on planet earth like Vasily Stepanov. Who, for some unexplained reason is cruising on the fringes of the known galaxy. While he is near a planet, his ship gets attacked (?) by something and he has to land on the planet. While he's there, he gets kinda attacked and captured by a local who damages his communication device.

Apparently this planet is in the equivalent of 20th century of Earth. And it's pretty much a distopia. Vasily is quickly seen as a merry ND fellow but he doesn't care because he mogs everyone left and right. He is taller, fairer, stronger, happier and more athletic than everyone. But the mogging doesn't stop there. The most plot relevant one is that he doesn't get affected by the daily radioactive pulses emitted by the radioactive towers around and encircling the country. Most of the population gets brainwashed by them but thry don't feel it. While a few of the population, also called degenerates; go into an epileptic shock for a few good minutes whenever these towers get activated. They get activated 2 times per day. The degenerates are hunted down by the government. But...

The elite rulers (called unknown fathers) in the somewhat oligarchical system themselves are also secretly degenerates. One guy among them (who is called genius of the state in the subtitles) secretly plots to overthrow the government by using these towers and that's why he wants to get his hands on our dear PSL God to use as the perfect agent for his mission, which is to sabotage the broadcasts to his advantage. So he kidnaps a MTB that Stepanov falls in love with. Coerces him into breaking into the radio centre and play out the casette he provides him with. The main character agrees. Goes on the mission and succeeds breaking in. Except he blows up the centre instead and most likely ignited a bloody revolution.

Oh and the main character even has superhuman abilities such as regenerating from grievous wounds to his chest like a Demigod GigaChad.

Anyone else watched it? It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. And I can see several plot holes tbh.

I remember here in Russia, the movie was heavily criticized and mocked for poor adaptation of the novel, bad acting and cheap props. "A lame movie about adventures of metrosexual Apollo somewhere among some working class scum"

I remember a similar sentiment in regards to the old Witcher show (Wiedzmin) from Poles.

So you know the novel this movie is from? Why do they keep saying Massarakh? Is it a swear word?

Yes.
"In "The Inhabited Island," the origin of this expression is linked to the cosmogonic views of the inhabitants of Saraksh. The unusually high refraction of this planet's atmosphere greatly raised the apparent horizon, leading the inhabitants of Saraksh to believe that the surface of their world was concave, and that they lived at the bottom of a giant pit. The opposing view—that they lived on the surface of a convex planet—although it arose, was not accepted and was once persecuted by the official religion, its adherents being considered heretics. The expression "Saraksh (i.e., the world) inside out" is an echo of this conflict of ideas."
