If you think eugenics are bad tell me why
Yeah maybe it was adopted by some immoral people throughout history but that doesn’t just invalidate the entire premise by mere association
For example if we had a eugenics program I wouldn’t have to be born into a body with neurodivergence, ocd, retrognathia, degenerating eyesight, severe strabismus, nerve palsy, mpb, etc etc, my life is genuinely hell and filled with loss and suffering because of the genetics I was handed, just for some low IQ normie to be “Muh nature”, “we shouldn’t interfere”, “Muh playing god”, JFL NIGGA we used to get eaten by wild animals that didn’t stop us from building fences, appeal to nature fallacy always makes me laugh
Like the cruelty of subjecting someone to a lifetime sentence of poor health / beauty (aesthetics are just a reflection of health e.g. craniofacial development because form follows function) will always outweigh the “freedom” of just allowing anyone to try and selfishly immortalize their DNA aka reproduction
Normies cope with Muh “giving birth is a human right”, but I don’t agree with that right when it infringes on the equity and equal opportunity of a whole ass human being, we’re literally talking about the cards you’re dealing to someone that will determine their entire life path
In an ideal world, I think we should place barriers on who is allowed to biologically reproduce. 20-30 year olds would have the opportunity to take an IQ test to make sure they’re at least not below average, then be checked out by a physician for any genetic diseases or deformities before being given a license to reproduce. We would incentivize reproduction with tax benefits, and anyone who reproduces without a license would face financial punishment as an incentive to not do that. People who wouldn’t qualify to reproduce their DNA would be financially encouraged to adopt instead.
Overall I find the biological drive to spread your genetics primitive and outdated. It’s honestly no more noble, grand, or justified than the biological drive to seek out a mate. You don’t deserve either of those things just because it’s what your biology wants. We need to get rid of this whole selfish and cruel attitude around reproduction and come together as a society to give the future generations an equal chance, a system where their opportunities are based on merit and effort rather than leaving biological inequities up to “god” or “luck”. Everyone deserves to have the best opportunity they can.
Also btw in Iceland eugenics are what managed to make Down syndrome extinct, imagine how much suffering we were able to save people from just through education and rational thinking instead of kneejerk ideology driven rhetoric
And the final thing I will leave you with: we already practice eugenics through sexual selection, it’s just wildly inefficient and archaic, so building a formal system for genetic equality would just be an extension of this rather than some wild idea.
