I am too empathetic. I care too much about fairness, justice, and equality. Meanwhile, there is a deluge of others who are simply ignorant, willingly or not, to others' suffering and only focus on their own wellbeing.

Of course I care about my own wellbeing. But it is easy for me to sacrifice my own comfort to try and help the underdog gain some of their own. I feel a duty to ensure that those around me feel comfortable and safe, and even those past my reach, I dream of a world where we all can feel comfortable and safe.

But there are so many people ready and willing to snatch away the comfort and safety of others if it means it increases or maintains their own. And they seem so happy while they do it; I truly envy them. These people are often more powerful, definitely more powerful than me. And they get away with it with no repercussions. Meanwhile, if I fight back against their vile behavior, I am seen as the aggressor, the trouble maker, the fool.

I wish I could be as evilly selfish as them. But it's against the nature of my soul. My true selfish act will be giving up on hope for a better future for us all, when I catch this bus and leave it up to chaos.
