The cavalry regiment is seen as one of the more elite high-class units in the army mostly ceremonial, focused on appearances rather than real combat. I actually fit their criteria over 182 cm tall qnd medically fit. I could've joined and probably had an easy, comfortable time attending formal events and doing very little but my parents regiment thr light infantry regiment. That was what I was attached too. That meant real soldiering. Our officers barked orders at us constantly. We were treated like an afterthought bland food, water that tasted like petrol, living in bunker. I would have much easier time as cavalry

Cavalry actually existed until ww1 but they got slaughtered by high caliber machine guns and trench fire of the great war so the Cavalry regiment was dissolved as combat arms by most countries.

I would rather be real soldiering any day than with some pristine ornamental unit.
