There are PLENTY of other countries where you can BUY A GUN and not have to PROTECT yourself from KING VON -- although MOST of them are in EASTERN EUROPE where there really aren't any DIRE threats in the first place, and you can even WALK AROUND at MIDNIGHT in any city without much concern.
