However, being known doesn't mean much, as the forum goes through cycles so fast. People that were popular might stop posting and will be forgotten for the most part. Maybe it's embarrassing trying to become a known member, but the consequences aren't that bad.

And from an outside perspective, it's definitely viewed as an incel forum. So protecting one's identity is a good idea.

He attached his face and persona to platforms outside of org. And he gained popularity; others have done it before. Not to his extent and fame.

But if you're a known member who does not have connected accounts outside of org. And your face isn't posted. You won't get exposed like he could, plus he's famous, and we aren't, and most won't become famous from org.
