btw it wasn't covered up, it was a hand written note that was so pointless and irrelevant they neglected to disclose it. really a procedural error more than anything. usually cases like these are retried but since its been so long basically impossible for the state to bring the same witnesses and decayed evidence back, so they opted not to waste state resources.

basically innocence project goes around looking for procedural errors like this to overturn decades old convictions where the state is no longer able to retry the case successfully in order to get obviously guilty people off.
