I'd rather be a man finding a girlfriend than a woman finding a boyfriend.

Yeah yeah, I know. Guys get rejected more, have to make the first move, and risk getting ghosted after shooting their shot. Meanwhile, women get suitors just for existing, right? That’s the narrative. But honestly? I prefer the man’s side of the dating game.

Here’s why: men choose who they approach. That’s real power. You decide who gets the chance to say yes or no. Women might control access to the date, but men control whether the opportunity happens at all. And that’s slept on.

Look. Women can get all dressed up, spend hours on their makeup, post thirst traps, and still be invisible to the one guy they actually want. So many women dress pretty and spend hours donning on makeup hoping their crush notices them. Meanwhile, it's likely their crush never notices them or cares about them. And instead, they're either lonely, settle for a man they like less, or constantly fight off unwanted men they don't want. That’s brutal. Meanwhile, dudes can put themselves in the arena. You get to make the plan, take the shot, and maybe walk away with what you want. Win or lose, you're not just waiting around.

Being a guy in the dating world is like being a hunter. You spot your target, study the terrain, get your gear ready, and go for it. You might miss. You might bag a buck. But you control the timing, the target, the approach. You do.

Being a woman, on the other hand? Feels more like setting up a trap. You set the bait, make it appealing, and then wait. Sometimes the right guy falls into it. A lot of the time, it’s the wrong one. Or none. Or a raccoon. You get the idea.

A lesbian woman still gets hit on by men. An asexual woman still gets flirted with. But a gay or ace man? Might go unnoticed his entire life. There’s a freedom in being able to choose to act, or not act. To swing or stay back.

So yeah. It’s not perfect being a guy in the dating scene, but I’ll take the agency, the control, and the chase over waiting and hoping any day.
