the premise of the game is that you are in a town during the purge and you start off with a poor house that spawns with an NPC, and the goal of the game is to break into other's people property kidnapp the other players npc and bring it to your home to be sold for cash. cash can be used to upgrade your home and buy stronger npc's and weapons.
