After analyzing some faces I hypothesize that the ideal mouth width should be in harmony with the eyes. I believe that IPD > Mouth width > ICD in terms of length.
example 1. Chico fits the criteria. you can clearly see the Mouth width is greater than ICD but less than IPD. Here mouth width seems to be the average between IPD and ICD
example 2. dasha taran. she also fits the criteria but you can see her mouth width is much closer to IPD than ICD
some random morphs i did in paint. kind of cage but i think they look better
example 3. i make mouth width > IPD . looks like joker but looks better than the normal where mouth width looks equal to ICD or even less than ICD.
example 4. I make mouth width > ipd again. looks joker again. I still think it looks better.
TL; DR you want your mouth width to be be greater than (IPD + ICD) / 2 but smaller than IPD
