There’s amega thread about neck training here ( https://looksmax.org/threads/the-looksmaxing-guide-to-neck-training-mega-thread.255277/ ) , but based on my experience, I’d recommend starting with bodyweight exercises for the first month. The neck is much easier to injure than most other muscles, especially if you’ve never trained it before. You can still make good progress with calisthenics at home, and after about a month, you can gradually start adding weights.

There is special equipment for neck training that attaches to the head, but be careful with this

you can't progressively overload at home boyo
the ideal neck width ratio is around 0.88–0.95, for that progress you wont need fancy equipment or weights, if you insist on progressive overload a thicker book is enough but the key is consistency

you need weight to progress, no one talked about fancy equipment or plates

doing it without weights you can achieve a close to ideal ratio without any previous neck engagement, progress is exaggerated, an overworked neck (which is the direct outcome of your "weight to progress" mentality) is uncanny in most cases for the average joe. ofc u need to see progress after a time but only if you have the consistency and you dont wanna do higher rep count (and for that, like i said a thicker book is enough weight)
