Who are these people commenting on Youtube videos where there are already 1000s of comments? No one is going to scroll through 500+ comments to get to your comment. I know that you can game the system by replying to the top comment, but unless you have something unique to say specifically about the top comment (highly unlikely) it is a dick move to do that imo.
Also, the more comments the video has, the less likely I am to even read the comments, because the top comments are just going to be from fan boys that are subscribed to the channel, waited for and watched the video the second it came online, and commented on the video before they even finished watching the video just so they could be one of the first comments
