The way I look at it is that if God were to interfere with what happens in this world then we wouldn't have any free will, where would the cutoff be on what he does and doesn't allow? If only good happened then life would not be possible because each and every human has done some bad in their life, so is God just supposed to interfere and stop all the bad from happening? Makes life pointless doesn't it? The things you mentioned happened because God only interacts with us in the after life not in this one, at least that's how I'd look at it. Then, based on how much each person in this life suffered, they'd get judged differently.
