What if I buy a stock that decreases in value after I bought it? I made a bad choice and I have to live with the consequences. I am responsible for what happened to me.

So cause and effect creates moral responsibility if cause and effect would have been recognizable beforehand.

Now if my foolish behaviour causes me to become victim of a crime I sure am not responsible for the act of the criminal but I am responsible for the cause and effect aspect to the same degree I am liable for buying a stock that loses weight.
