If I’m doing a single arm exercise should I only do 1 set each?

I usually do 2x8-6 on most exercises, but should I be doing 1 or 2 sets on each side on single arm or single leg exercises?

Idk if that makes sense but idk how else to word it

If it’s a single arm workout and doing bolth arms is a set should I be doing 1 set or 2?
