If my occlusal plane is not very steep but my mandible is more steep, will CCW not be that useful for me?

Sup cels,

So if you did not hear, I will be getting a bimax soon jfl

So to some high IQ users @RealSurgerymax @MedMaxxing @ascentium , my occlusal plane is barely downward grown, it will just need 4 degrees of CCW rotation to become perfectly straight.

My mandible is more steep than my occlusal plane. Will the modest amount of ccw be effective in making my mandible parallel to the groun

if you can interpret radiographs, please dm me

best

Your mandible is steep because your teeth do not occlude at a sufficiently forward position. If you look at your mandibular dental arch you'll notice that the arch is not in the same steep plane as your jawline. It's just the mandibular body having to assume this shape because it has nowhere else to go due to the lack of maxillary development.

If you had a high IQ yourself you would know by now that a mandible “parallel to the ground” is not ideal, not normal, and not something you should be aiming for

of course it's impossible to have a mandible plane completely parallel to the ground but ideal is to be somewhat close

From knowing your situation I dont feel that 4° will give make your mandibular plane parallel to the ground.

But in general this brings up a good point that the occlusal plane and mandibular plane is not always the same and in this case a Chin Wing Osteotomy can be employed after BSSO to correct both without sacrificing one for the other.

Fair enough, 3.6 degrees in that morph was good enough. Too parallel to the ground would make me look short faced

Less in my opinion, from an aesthetic judgement
Thanks. I think that doing custom angle implants would be better than a chin wing after bimax ? I think in my case, I wouldn’t be able to get much BSSO because of skeletal class III, probably no more than 4 mm

I remember you discussing that mild steepness of my inferior mandibular border could be addressed with extended genioplasty. I would as for the back half of the jaw, maybe jaw angle implants would be better since they provide coverage to mandible?
