In my country, back in the communist era(lots of (((them))) were high ranking communists) homosexuality was banned. So, some people thought they banned it because it was good, so they became gay.
This happened usually to people who were allowed to travel outside for work in the western countries: artists, flight attendants, football players, etc. They saw homosexuality was legal there, they were hit on frequently by gays and eventually brought back this custom into our country, until then we didn't have homosexuals in Romania.
